House, now school. c1840, with rear addition, now library, c1900. Brick with ashlar dressings and hipped and gabled slate roofs with 2 ridge and 2 side wall stacks. Plinth, first floor and sillbands, modillion wood eaves. 2 storeys; 3 window range. Windows are 12 pane sashes above and plain sashes below, all with brick flat arches. Central portico with 2 fluted Doric columns in antis, with cornice and blocking course. Panelled door with overlight. On each side, a window. Right return, 4 windows, has regular fenestration. To right, a set back rear wing, 2 storeys; 3 window range. In front of it, a single storey addition with hipped roof and canted corners, with six 3-light wooden cross casements. To its left, a door with overlight. Left return has a round-headed stair window. At the rear, to left, a C19 2 storey gabled wing with three 12 pane sashes, the left one altered to form a fire escape. INTERIOR has entrance hall and stair well with enriched cornices, and cantilever stone dogleg stair with ornate cast-iron balustrade. Main rooms have enriched cornices and doorcases, and one fluted slate fireplace with hob grate. Library addition has wood panelling, enriched cornice and saucer dome.
