House, formerly included house to the S, now office. Early-mid C18, altered early C19, and mid C20. Stucco with limestone dressings, ashlar gable stacks and slate roof. Double-depth plan. 2 storeys and attic; 3:1:3-window range. Double-fronted with an ashlar plinth, ground-floor cill band, quoins, frieze, cornice and blocking course; fine pedimented doorcase with attached Tuscan columns, 6-panel door and overlight with pointed Gothic glazing bars and lantern. Horned plate-glass sashes in full-height 3-light bows, and 2 hipped dormers. INTERIOR: a good early C18 interior, details include an entrance hall divided by a round-headed arch, to a rear open-well stair with curtail, column on vase balusters, a modillion cornice and oval plaster ceiling panel; lateral corridor with dado, and a good marble fire surround in the front left-hand room; a good first-floor front room with raised and fielded panelling and boxed out cornice, with a central front dressing room; altered collar truss roof with wide boards. A composed design with No.5 (qv), which was refronted to match, and house to the south (qv), all of which have a matching continuous cornice.
