GV II

Water works company offices, now offices. Dated 1867. Restored and converted late C20. Brick with ashlar front and dressings. Roof not visible. Single ridge stack. Classical Revival style. Plinth, impost band, string course, sillband, dentilled cornice, open balustrade with piers topped with urns, and central datestone with carved crest. 2 storeys plus basement; 7 window range of plain sashes with moulded architraves and raised panels between them. Arcaded ground floor has moulded round arches with enrichments and mask keystones, and granite Doric columns. Central panelled double door with plain fanlight, flanked by 3 windows with cast-iron mullions and transoms. Left return has plain corner pilasters and 5 plain sashes on each floor with brick flat arches. Right return has 3 plain sashes on each floor, the upper right one blank. 2 chamfered square openings to basement. Both returns have plain parapets. INTERIOR not inspected.
