3/45 Barn approx. 50 metres east of Sheepcote Farmhouse

Barn. C16 or earlier; altered. Timber frame with cladding of magnesian limestone rubble with quoins, graduated stone slate roof (upper level replaced with Welsh slate). Rectangular 5-bay plan; wagon entrance in centre of west side under slightly raised roof; four 1/2-height buttresses, 2 small square openings on different levels between those on the left. North gable wall shows line of formerly more steeply-pitched roof in the lower level, and has different masonry in the apex; triangular breathers on 2 levels, a raised doorway in the centre and another door at the right-hand side.

Interior: 4 post-and-truss frames with intermediate supports (like raked crutches) rising from the wall-plates to the aisle-plates; braces from posts to tie-beams, curved braces from posts to aisle-plates. King-post roof trusses with curved longitudinal braces to the ridge; some carpenters' marks beginning with 2 ("11") on the frame nearest to the south end.
