II
House now flats. Circa 1912 by Paul Phipps. Roughcast and brown brick, with plain tiled roof. Rectangular block with projecting wings. Two storeys and attic, with deep overhanging eaves, and gables left and right heavily coved out, with 3 flat roofed dormers, and stacks ranged left to right and project- ing at end left and right. Regular fenestration of wooden casement, almost without interruption across whole facade on both storeys. Recessed centre, the eaves domed upwards, with balcony, and glazed screen on ground floor pushed forward and held with slender iron brackets. Rear elevations simple, with coved projecting wings, panelled central door. One storey and attic service wings to left (west) of irregular plan, with hipped roofs and hipped dormers. (See Charles Marriot, Modern English Architecture, 1924 p.244).
