Farmhouse. Late C16. Extended early and mid C19. Timber framed with brick nogging and casing. Partly rendered. Plain and bullnose tile roofs. Partial first floor band. 3 gable stacks. L-plan with addition to north east. 2 storeys, 4 bays. Windows are C19 glazing bar and plain sashes and late C20 casements. Front has to left projecting C19 addition with canted bay window and to right, a sash. Setback range has 2 sashes. To right, late C19 single storey addition with a sash. Above, a sash and a C19 dormer. West front has to left, projecting late C19 addition with plank door. To its right, door and projection containing a casement. To right again, ground level casement. South gable has, above, a casement. East side has single bay post and traces of a second. 3 casements and plaque to Henry Ireton. Above, central casement flanked by single Yorkshire sashes. Rear elevation has to left, blocked door and a sash. Above, to right, gabled dormer, mid C19. Early C19 addition has to right a single sash on each floor. South wing has to east 2 jowled bay posts with cambered tie beams. Chamfered fireplace bressummer. Principal rafter roof with butt purlin, struts and wind braces. East wing has common rafter roof with single purlin. Early C19 dogleg stair with winder, stick balusters, turned newel and scrolled handrail. Single C17 framed panelled door. This house is reputed to be the birthplace of Henry Ireton, c.1603-1659, Parliamentary Commander and Cromwell's son- in-law.
