GV II
House, now offices in association with No.35 (qv). c1810-1820. Red brick, with a plain parapet and a moulded stucco cornice. Black glazed pantiles. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, with a return front to Athenaeum Lane. 2 window range: 12-pane sashes to the 1st storey and 6-pane to the 2nd storey, all in flush cased frames with flat gauged brick arches. The doorcase has reeded half-round engaged columns, plain pediment, cornice with mutules to the soffit and a rectangular fanlight with decorative glazing. 6-panel door, probably Edwardian, with 4 sunk panels and the 2 bottom panels flush. 2 plain chimney-stacks set internally on the east wall with high narrow rectangular shafts surmounted by 4 chimney-pots. INTERIOR: through passage with a C20 replacement rear door which has an original fanlight matching that over the entrance door. Stair with stick balusters and ramped wreathed handrail. Internal shutters with sunk panels. The fireplace to the ground-storey room has a decorated eared architrave, and both rooms on the 1st storey have reeded fireplace surrounds in similar style to the entrance doorway.
