Ravenshill Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse, now house. Late C17/early C18. English bond brick with
platband; timber-framed rear wing; hipped old plain tile roof; brick ridge
stack. 2-room plan with central lobby entry and rear right service wing.
2 storeys. 3-window range with segmental brick arches over 1980's three-
light windows, including central blocked doorway; flat brick arches over
2-light wood-mullioned window and 1980's plank door set in beaded
architrave to inserted doorway on right. Doorway to cellar rebuilt early
C19. Rear elevation has 2 one-light windows with heavy pegged frames and
a 3-light wooden diamond-mullioned window. Timber-framed rear wing of 4
x 3 panels. Attached to right, and at obtuse angle, is 1980's brick and
tile link block to two early C19 one-storey stone and tile service ranges.
Interior: stone flags to ground floor and elm boards to first floor. Stop-
chamfered beams throughout and original plank and ribbed doors with
wrought-iron fittings. Central back-to-back fireplace with chamfered
timber lintels over open fireplaces to ground floor and first floor on
left. Winder stair has been repositioned and main first-floor chamber to
left has former closet over front lobby. Collar-truss roof with chamfered
trenched purlins.
