(Formerly listed as Nos 78 and 80, CROMFORD HILL, previously listed as No 80)

GV

Two houses. Possibly C18 (or earlier) and pre-dating the major Arkwright housing developments in Cromford. Roughly coursed rubble (there is no vertical masonry joint between the two houses); tiled roof to No. 78, concrete tile to No. 80; two rooflines, the end walls marked by prominent stone coping (indicating that roofs originally slabbed or thatched). Rendered stone end stacks and one red and black brick ridge stack to No. 80 in addition. Both houses regular two window ranges. Two-light, mullioned windows with C20 casements throughout. Large rectangular lintel to doorway of No. 80. C20 part-glazed doors. Stone extensions to rear. Interior of No. 76 has large fireplace with stone lintel.

NB No. 80, Cromford Hill, Cromford was previously listed on the 3rd November 1986 with the serial number 1/15H. These two houses now have the serial number 1/121.
