Details

QUEEN CAMEL CP BINDWELL LANE (West side) ST5924 8/79 Camel Farmhouse - GV II Detached farmhouse. Probably C17 origins, but modified. Local lias stone cut and squared; double Roman clay tiled roof with overhangs to gables; brick chimney stacks, but stone outside stack with offsets to west gable. U-plan; mostly 2 storeys, 3 wide bays. Two-light small-pane casement windows under chamfered timber lintols, with additonal window at lower level between bays 1 and 2; projecting open stone porch between bays 2 and 3 with coped gable and tiled pitched roof; semi-circular arches to front and sides. Small extension in form of lean-to against west gable, to depth of chimney stack. Interior much altered, but surviving are various deep-chamfered beams and a good fireplace in west gable which has an ovolo-moulded cross beam, and evidence of circular staircase formerly to side: several old door frames - first floor not seen.
