BROWN STREET 1. 1594 (East Side) No 95 (The Priory) SU 1429 NE 4/146 28.2.52.
II GV 2. Early C17. Altered C18 late and C19. 3 storey. Colourwashed brick on brick base with moulded stone capping. Moulded stone string over 1st floor windows and moulded coping to parapet. Flanking chimneys with diamond shafts. 2-storey porch slightly off centre, ashlar with gable, moulded stone coping and finial. 3-light stone mullioned 1st floor casement (C19 lights) and Tudor archway to door with moulded and splayed surround carved spandrels and drip mould. 3-light stone mullioned casement (C19 lights) on 2nd floor. 4 similar mullioned and transomed C19 casements on 1st floor and one C19 angular oriel casement to left hand on ground floor with 2 4-light mullioned and transomed C19 casements to right hand. Windows on ground and 2nd floors have drip moulds. Interior: to the rear trace of C17 mullions on 1st floor of former rear outer wall, 1st floor front room to north has C17 panelling and fireplace surround of carved pilasters with overmantel. Rest of interior probably Cl9 reproduction Jacobean. Some of plaster ceilings possibly original.
Nos 87 to 97(a) (odd) form a group.
