II

Row of 4 small houses. Early C19 with late C19/early C20 bay windows. Flemish bond brick with blue headers to the ground floor, first floor tile- hung; slate roof; brick stacks.

Plan: The range faces approximately south and fronts the road. The front block is narrow and single depth, the rooms heated from axial stacks; heated rear wings at right angles.

Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 5-window front, curving slightly inwards towards the centre of the range. Roof hipped at left end, gabled at right end. Stacks with brick shafts with corbelled brick cornices. The left hand house is entered on the left return. The adjacent house to the right has a C19 panelled front door to right of centre with a gabled porch on posts. The centre house has a half-glazed front door to the left; the right hand house has a panelled C19 front door with a late porch on brackets. 5 first floor 4- pane plate glass sash windows; 4 ground floor canted bay windows with plate glass 4-pane sashes in the centre, 2-pane in the outer lights.

Interior: Not inspected.

The Crescent is shown in a late C19 photograph published in A Victorian Pictorial Record of Brenchlev and Matfield (n.d., c.1988). The bay windows have replaced sashes shown in this photograph.
