4/23 Trenhorne Cottage
II
House and attached outbuilding. Probably mid C17. Stone rubble. Rag slate roof
with gable ends with lower roof to outbuilding to left with hipped end. Stone rubble
end stacks with cloam oven projection on right.
Plan: Original plan uncertain. The house is of two room plan heated by end stacks.
The entrance was probably slightly to left of centre, leading into a cross passage.
However, in the circa C18 the house was extended further to the left with a small
outshut on the left hand end and the entrance was probably moved to this outshut.
In circa early C19 the outshut was extended further to the left with an outbuilding
of rectangular plan.
Exterior: Two storeys. Asymmetrical 2-window front. The entrance was possibly
originally slightly to left of centre, now partly blocked with a C19 2-light window
inserted. The opening has a chamfered lintel with straight cut stop on left. To
right a C19 2-light casement with two C19 2-light casements on first floor. The
right hand corner was partly rebuilt in the circa early Cl9. To left the outbuilding
has double doors on the ground floor with small C20 window and C19 door to right.
Small 1-light casement on first floor. In left hand end of outbuilding is a small
one-light window made from a single piece of stone with holes for stanchion bars in
the top and bottom.
Interior: not inspected.
