Details

SOUTH STREET TQ 75 SW BARRING (West Side) 2/16 No. 36 (Old Tiles) II House; possibly formerly non-domestic. C16 or earlier with later alterations. Timber framed. Ground floor of right end bay rendered, with central stud, rest red and grey brick in Flemish bond. Exposed framing with plaster infilling to first floor. Plain tile roof. Right end bay possibly re-built in C18. 2 storeys. Stone plinth, higher to right bay. Broadly-spaced studding to left and central bays, with 2 tension braces of uneven scantling to left bay. Close-studding of thin scantling to right bay with straight tension brace and thinner midrail. Hipped roof. Slightly projecting gable end stack to left. Irregular fenestration of two 2-light casements, one to centre, one to right. Pegged cill of blocked window towards centre. Blocked doorway to right of central bay. Stable door in C20 single-storey extension to left end. Rear lean-to. Interior not inspected.
