6/1 Arram Hall 16.12.66 _ II
House. Early C17. Red brick in English bond with diaper work in burnt brick. Cast pantile roofs. Direct entry to main block with lower, later, wings to right and left. 2 storeys with attics and cellars, 3 bays to main block, 1 storey with attics and one bay to wings. Balanced elevation. Chamfered plinth. 2-storey porch: round-headed opening with projecting imposts and keyblock, pilasters, and broken segmental pediment with central urn and finials all in rubbed brick. Early boarded door, with original hinges and bolt, said to have been brought from Meaux Abbey. Moulded first floor band. Small rectangular window with hoodmould over door, insurance plaque above. Dentilled brick eaves cornice and coped gable on shaped brick kneelers. Main house has late C20 canted bay windows to right and left rising through full height of building: small rectangular windows to ground and first floors immediately to right of porch. Moulded first floor band, diaper work to first floor, dentilled brick eaves cornice. End stacks with 3 shafts to right, 2 shafts to left, the outer members set diagonally. Shaped gables with moulded cornices. Side wings in same character: chamfered plinths, moulded bands, shaped gables with moulded cornices enclosing blank quatrefoil panels. C20 windows with glazing bars throughout. Few interior features surviving.
