Railway bridge over the River Trent
II
Railway bridge. 1851. Clayton, Shuttleworth and Co. of Lincoln
for the Great Northern Railway Company. Red brick, ashlar and
iron. South side of bridge with 3 elliptical ashlar arches with
rusticated voussoirs. Extending over is an ashlar band topped
with ashlar coped brick parapet. Ashlar cutwaters. To the north
is the decorative iron single span bridge by Clayton,
Shuttleworth and Co., with lattice girding and iron railings.
This is flanked by large single rusticated ashlar piers. The
northern part of the iron span is in the parish of Stoke
Bardolph.
