2. Set back from road in large garden with fine trees. Circa 1830-40. 2 storeys ashlar cut in small blocks (possibly Chilmark). This house consists of 2 linked parallel blocks the right hand one stepped forward to south west. Plinth and sill course. Gable end and hipped slate roofs, wide eaves, low pitch. Entrance front: the projecting block has gable end with coping and scrolled brackets to kneelers. 3 windows 1st floor one on projecting block blind, recessed, sash, glazing bars, taller on ground floor with block sills. Stone porch built out next to and partly over front of projecting block. Plinth, block cornice, the blocking course returned to sill course on front. Small solid pediment. Semi-circular arched entrance, block imposts carried in to reveals of door. Double doors of 6 fielded panels, moulded case and doorhead. Semi-circular fanlight with radial swagged glazing bars. Keystone set in flush arch over. South East front: projecting block has 2 tripartite windows to both floors, recessed sashes, glazing bars intact, block sills to ground floor, similar gable to that on entrance front at north east end. Recessed block on this front has 1 window 1st floor, recessed sash with glazing bars, block sill. Ground floor recessed French windows with marginal glazing. The north west front of recessed block which is mainly a service wing has late sashes on 1st floor, the ground floor windows with original sashes and glazing bars.
