House, late C16, possibly with earlier core, with late C17 addition and later alterations. Ground floor of late C16 section large blocks of roughly coursed galleted stone, first floor weatherboarded to east and south, close-studded with rendered infilling to north. Channelled render to east gable end. Late C17 section chequered red and grey brick. Plain tile roofs. Late C16 section (possibly built in stages) T-plan, with main range running east-west, and stem of T projecting forwards to south. Late C17 section L-plan, wrapped round south gable end and west elevation of stem of T, stopping short of north end and then projecting west from north-west corner; north side of projection abuts south side of west end of T-plan block, forming very small central courtyard. Both sections 2 storeys. West end of late C16 block 3 storeys. South elevation of east end of late C16 block: flat eaves soffits. Multiple filleted brick ridge stack towards centre and one smaller ridge stack towards east end. Irregular fenestration of 4 windows; three 2-light C19 mullioned casements and one 3-light casement. Ribbed door in 4-centred arched stone architrave with continuous roll moulding, beneath central stack. East elevation of south wing: eaves raised towards south end, possibly in C19, to resemble cross-wing with hipped roof. Irregular fenestration of 2 tripartite sashes. Hollow- chamfered stone doorway with semi-circular head and moulded hoodmould, up 2 steps to left of centre. East gable end of late C17 section with higher eaves than south wing and with modillioned cornice. Projecting rendered stack. One 24-pane sash. South elevation of late C17 range: high coursed and galleted stone plinth. 4-course rubbed brick plat band. Rusticated rubbed brick quoins. Moulded wooden eaves cornice with scrolled modillions. Steeply pitched hipped roof, west hip returning. Central brick stack, and rear stack to right.Projecting brick stack to north gable end of west wing. Regular 4-window front of barely recessed 20-pane sashes with splayed rubbed brick voussoirs. Four 24-pane ground-floor sashes breaking plinth and splayed internally. West return elevation: regular 4-window front of 3 20-pane sashes, and one tripartite sash to north end. Two 20-pane sashes to ground-floor, and one blocked late C17 moulded wood cross window with splayed rubbed brick voussoirs. Half-glazed door with flat hood in blocked window opening to north end. West-projecting section beyond north window, with plinth, plat band, lower eaves, and roof hipped to west; one cross window to south, and 3 sashes to west. This abuts end of late C16 range. North elevation of late C16 range: west end block 3 storeys, with narrow doubly-jettied section to its west end. Jettied section has moulded ground-floor cornice to west return and hipped roof to north. West gable of main range with moulded bargeboards and pendant. Rest of range 2 storeys. Filleted and corbelled stack to 3-storey section, in north slope of roof immediately east of jetties. Irregular fenestration of 9 first-floor casements; two 3-light to 3-storey section and seven 2 and 3-light to 2-storey section. One 3-light C19 casement to second floor of west end, and one to second floor of jettied section. Interior not inspected. Associated from late C16 with Fane family.
