SU 53 NE BEAUWORTH
5/57 Beauworth Cottage II
House. Late C17 to early C18 3 bay house with late C18 dairy extension to rear right, mid C19 gabled extension to left and flat roofed extension to middle rear, the whole forming an E-shape. The oldest range is of red brick with grey headers on brick plinth. Tiled roof with brick chimney stack. 2 storeys. Originally 5 windows but one now blocked. Windows now mainly wooden casements, but some old wooden pegged architraves survive . Cambered head linings to all windows. Moulded wooden eaves cornice and band between floors. Large brick and wooden early C20 porch. Mid C19 extension of red brick with gable to road with bargeboards. 2 casements with cambered head linings to 1st floor. Ground floor has similar early C20 brick wood and glazed porch. Rear elevation has mid C19 flat roof 2 storey extension. The oldest part of the house has one 16 pane sash with moulded architrave and casement window with old mullioned surround. Late C18 gabled dairy extension to left, brick and rendered with tiled roof and C19 windows. Lounge has exposed wall framing with diagonal tension braces and ceiling with moulded axial beam. Brick chimney with wooden bressumier and curved hood. Similar chimney to central room. Kitchen has a chamfered spine beam with run out stops. The dairy extension conceals an old boarded back door which is probably late C17.
