SX 98 SE LYMPSTONE CHURCH ROAD (north side) Lympstone 5/12 Alwyne and Nos. 1 and 2 Smeath's 3.12.75 Cottages (formerly listed under Station Road GV II
Row of 3 cottages. C18 with C19 and later alterations. Roughcast and plastered cob on stone footings; some brick. Gabled-end thatched roof. Each cottage 2 rooms deep and 1 room wide; internal left-hand end stack, and 2 axial stacks, all with brick shafts. Roof dormers to each. 'Alwyne' (to left) with a 2-light metal casement window to 1st floor, canted 1:2:1 pane bay below to the left of plain door with rectangular fanlight under canopy on shaped brackets. The middle cottage is bow-fronted, each floor with a 16-pane hornless sash window, with a glazed door to the right, rectangular fanlight, canopy as 'Alwyne'. Right-hand cottage with late- C20 hornless sash windows to front, and C20 casements to the end elevation. Included for group value with the church and the cottages opposite. (Dingles, and 1, 2 and 3 Church Road Cottages, q.v.).
