War Memorial, c.1920, with addition of plaque to the fallen of the Second World War.
Tapered cruciform column on stepped base, of Portland stone. On three sides, sloped faces carry bronze plaques recording the names of the fallen of the two World Wars; the fourth side carries an inscription in the stone face to the men of Whitefield who died in the Great War. On the top of the column is a bronze figure of The Winged Victory standing on a globe encoiled by a serpent. At the base of the statue are bronze wreaths and swags. A partly-obscured signature appears on the south-west face of the statue base which appears to read 'Vernon March'.
A carefully executed sculptural composition of high quality which aptly demonstrates both architectural and historic significance.
