Details

OTHAM STREET TQ 75 SE OTHAM (East Side) The Limes 3/226 23.5.67 GV II House. Mid C17, with early C19 facade and alterations. Timber framed. Channelled render to facade. Plain tile roof. Semi lobby-entry plan, with narrow central corridor (possibly formed in C19)behind stack, and one room to each side. 2 storeys and attics on rendered plinth. Plain stone-coped parapet. Half-hipped roof. Rendered ridge stack to left of centre (to right end of left room). Two C19 projecting brick gable end stacks to right. 2 flat-roofed dormers. Regular 3-window front of recessed 16-pane sashes. Rendered flat-roofed porch under stack with engaged Doric columns and panelled door with narrow rectangular fanlight. House flanked on each side by single-storey rendered wall containing round-headed doorway. Narrow C19 parallel rear range, and short rear wing to right. Single- storey early C20 addition with three-quarters hipped roof, to left gable end, set back from flanking wall. Interior: ovolo-moulded axial beam with soffit panel to left ground-floor room. Fireplace to same room with chamfered wooden bressumer and renewed jambs. Tooled and chamfered stone jamb with vase stop re-used in later cellar stairs. C19 grate to right ground-floor room, with irises to tiles and with consoled marble shelf. C19 panelled doors. Attic stairs behind stack. Staggered butt-purlin roof.
