Details

OTHAM STREET TQ 75 SE OTHAM (East Side) 3/227 Elizabethan Lodge and Tudor Cottage GV II House, now house pair. Late C16. Timber framed. Ground floor red brick in Flemish bond to left bay, painted brick to rest. Exposed framing with plaster infilling to first floor. Plain tile roof. 4 timber-framed bays. 2 storeys on painted stone and brick plinth. Broadly-spaced studding. Tension braces to end bays. Projecting brick gable-end stack to left, on stone base. Gable-end ridge stack to right. Irregular fenestration of 3 small wooden casements; one 2-light to left end bay, one 4-light to left central bay and one single-light to right bay. Ground floor windows with segmental heads. Boarded door with segmental head to Elizabethan Lodge to left end of left central bay. Blocked door to right end of right central bay. Half-glazed door to Tudor Cottage to rear of left gable end. Early C19 addition to rear to left, parallel to main range but projecting to left. Roughly-coursed stone with brick dressings, hipped plain tile roof, one 12-pane sash to first floor of gable end and two to ground floor. Interior: only partly inspected. Exposed framing to Elizabethan Lodge. Chamfered bressumer to right stack. Clasped purlin roof with windbraces, and vertical queen struts to collars.
