ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS KEW Campanile

(Formerly listed as Campanile, ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS)

II 1850. By Decimus Burton. A stock brick tower in the form of an Italian Romanesque campanile to house water tanks and provide a chimney for the Palm House, with which it was connected by subterranean flues. Yellow brick with red dressings. Square, tapering, with arcades upon tall vertical pilasters. Octagonal upper stage. Built by Grissell in 1847 for £988. (History of the King's Works).
