5/29 The Grange 14.9.66 II

Farmhouse. Dated 169.7 with C19 additions and alterations. Sandstone rubble with roughly-dressed quoins; pantiled roof with double row of sandstone flags at eaves; brick and stone stacks. 2-storey, 3-bay front has central C20 door in ovolo-chamfered surround, lintel with initials EAI and date 1697. Windows have chamfered surrounds: 18-pane horizontal sliding sash and small 4-pane fire window to left of door, renewed 6-pane sash to right; first floor has central late C20 casement and flanking 18-pane horizontal sliding sashes. Gabled 2-storey single-bay rear wing has attached C19 outshut. Steeply-pitched roof has coped gables and shaped kneeler to left; rebuilt left end-brick chimney and corniced right end stone chimney.

Attached farmbuildings to right and detached farmbuildings to rear not of special interest.
