2 C16 timber framed houses now occupied as one.
2 storeys and attic. 3 windows in all. The northernmost house has one
dormer. The 1st floor overhangs but has been later hung with tiles. The
southernmost of the 2 houses has old framing with sloping struts inside
and C16 ceilings but modern windows (that on the 1st floor projecting on
brackets). Doorcase with panelled pilasters. Carved entablature over pilasters
and central fanlight.
The northernmost house also has ceiling beams, but C18 sash windows on
the 1st floor and a later shop front below. Doorcase with fluted pilasters.
Frieze has carved motifs at both sides and moulded cornice and architrave.
No fanlight. The VCH says this house has cellars with rubble walls.
All the listed buildings in Lion Street (West Side) form a group.
