MERMAID STREET
(South Side)
Nos 14 and 15
II
GV
2.
Probably one house originally and now occupied as one but at some intervening
period divided into 2 and so has 2 numbers. The facade of this house on
the street dates from the C18, except that the first floor overhangs and
therefore the facade presumably conceals an earlier timber-framed building.
2 storeys. 2 windows. Ground floor painted brick, above stuccoed. Sash
windows, 2 bays built out on the ground floor under the over-hang. Tiled
roof. Pair of doorways in frames up 4 steps. No 14 has a C18 4-panel
moulded door, of which the top 2 panels have been cut away and glazed.
All the listed buildings in Mermaid Street form a group.
