House and toll booth. Early tl?. Painted rubble, double-Roman and pantile roof, 3 brick stacks. House with a symmetrical frontage, Two storeys, 3 bays, 2 and 3-light casements with horizontal glazing bars, brick voussoirs, Central door opening, 4-panelled door, top 2 panels glazed, wooden hood on 2 wooden posts, Toll booth to right, single storey, 5 sided structure, hipped roof in 5 sections, single 2-light casement with horizontal glazing bars, Further 2 storey addition of lower height to left, casements with glazing bars. Part of the Wedmore Turnpike Trust, established early Cl9. (O Bryan Korland, An Introduction to the Infrastructure of the Industrial Revolution in Somerset, 1982).
