Details
SEMINGTON HIGH STREET ST 86 SE (west side) 4/201 Highfield House with railings and gate GV II
Detached house, now hotel and restaurant. Late C18. Limestone ashlar, Welsh slate roof with coped verges and gable end stone stacks. Three-storey, 3-window. Central 6-panelled door with fanlight and pedimented architrave with pilasters, 16-pane sash either side. Plat band to first floor window sills; three 16-pane sashes. Cornice to plain blocking course, pilasters carried up from ground to eaves level. Rubble stone returns with lead rainwater goods. Rendered rear with sashes, 2-storey wing to right, 2-storey lean-to extension to left, rear roof pitch and extension roofs with double Roman tiles. Interior not inspected. Rubble stone walls with cast-iron spearhead railings attached to front, central square gate piers with cast-iron gate, probably all contemporary with house.
