Details
STEEPLE ASHTON CHURCH STREET ST 95 Nii (off north side) 7/222 Granary at The Manor House 11.9.68 GV II* Granary. Late C17. Unusual Flemish bond brick with two headers between each stretcher, stone dressings, stone slate roof with coped verges. Single-storey with loft, 3-window, on 12 cylindrical stone columns. Planked door in cyma-moulded architrave reached by stone steps on east gable. Front and rear walls have three 2-light cyma-mullioned casements. West gable has two 2-light mullioned casements to main floor, one 2-light mullioned casement to loft, moulded stone string courses over lintels of each floor. Interior of main floor has chamfered beams with ogee stops, winding stairs in south east corner up to loft; 3-bay collar truss roof with two tiers of chamfered purlins. An unusually decorative granary.
