Details

FLETCHING SHORTBRIDGE TQ 42 SE Piltdown 26/10019 Forge Cottage II House. Early C17, refronted and extended in early C19. Timberframed end chimneystack house, refronted in red brick with grey headers. Tiled roof, hipped to north east and with former external chimneystack in C17 brickwork to south east now integrated in later brickwork. Two storeys; 4 irregularly- spaced windows. Windows to front are early C19 16-pane sashes, some with horns, in moulded wooden architraves with cambered heads to ground floor. C19 porch to right hand side with round-headed arch and half-glazed door. Early C19 extension to rear has 2 gables, some 16 pane sashes and some C20 casements. Triangular brick buttress to external chimneystack. Interior has exposed box-framing to former external rear wall, open fireplace with wooden bressumer and exposed chamfered spine beam and floor joists. First floor has C17 floorboards and C19 firegrate. Angled queenstrut roof with through purlins, original rafters and lath and plaster partition.
