Inn. Circa 1700, extended late C19. Limestone ashlar, stone slate
roof with coped verges and gable end paired stone stacks. L-plan.
Two-storey, 4-window. C19 single-storey addition projects to
front; central folding double doors, 4-light. mullioned and
transomed casement either side and cross windows to returns,
cornice to low parapet of flat roof. First floor has four ovolo-
moulded cross windows, lintel string course, cornice to plain
blocking course. Left return has three cross windows to ground
floor, string course and five cross windows to first, including
rear wing. Right return has blocked cellar window, inserted C20
casement, cross window with hoodmould to first floor.
Interior has C19 Gothic stone fireplace in bar to right of
entrance; with octagonal pilasters with cusped panels. Inn takes
its name from the Long family of Rood Ashton (q.v.) who owned much
of village until mid C20.
