BARNTON C.P. TRENT AND MERSEY CANAL SJ 67 SW 4/13 Western entrance to the Barnton Tunnel - - II

Canal tunnel entrance arch: 1777 by James Brindley for the Trent and Mersey Canal Co. Partly washed English garden wall bond blue brick with red sandstone dressings. Curving facade has a parabolic stone arch at its centre. Plain band at ground level has plain parapet with a rounded stone coping. Bridge ends in stone and brick pilasters.
