STAINES ROAD
No 72 (Brinsworth House)

II

Probably late C18 or early C19 house, remodelled early to mid C19. Two storey house of three bays width. Low pitched slated roof to deep bracketed eaves. Built in brick with stucco quoins and first floor window surrounds. Semi-circular bow windows flank central entrance to either side and are surmounted by balconies with good iron balustrade iron pilasters and arches supporting tented canopies. The ornate, classically detailed, stucco entrance has a console bracketed hood with a balustraded balcony above. Doric half columns.

To the right, and linked to the main building by a later two-storey extension, a two-storey building of one tripartite window wide, probably contemporary with remodelling of earlier house.
