House, c1730, 1797 and C20 alterations.

THORNTON IN LONSDALE WESTHOUSE SD 67 SE 9/19 Westhouse Lodge Cottage - GV II Cottage. Early C19 with C20 alterations and C17 origins. Slobbered squared rubble, stone dressings, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 2 bays with one bay mid-C19 wing adjoining Westhouse Lodge (qv). Left-hand entrance has late C17 moulded surround, decorated lintels badly weathered but apparently inscribed: EKH 1686 c1980 door. Ground floor c1980 casement window. Upper floor left-hand 12 pane fixed light. Right-hand chamfered quoins, kneeler, gable end ridge stack. Left-hand wing contains C17 chamfered entrance, now blocked and 2 c1980 windows, Mid-Cl9 eaves modillions. Rear includes ground floor chamfered single light window and upper floor 2-light chamfered window. Interior not accessible. Included for group value.
