Finger post, probably late C19. Cast iron structure with central post an eight-sided column on a plinth with two bands about 2 ft above the base, a decorative finial and four sign boards, two arms high and two arms lower, terminating in hands with extended index fingers. One high board reads 'TO SHORTFIELD COMMON ½ MILE - BATTS CORNER 2½ MILES.' Other high board reads 'TO TILFORD 2½ MILES - ELSTEAD 5½- GODALMING 8½.' One low board reads 'TO FRENSHAM POND 1¼ MILES - CHURT 2½ - HINDHEAD 7.' Other low board reads 'TO FARNHAM 3 MILES'. A rare and decorative type of signpost.

This finger post is situated in the garden of Alison Cottage, The Reeds Road.
