Details
SS 90 NW CADELEIGH LITTLE-SILVER 5/60 Bible Christian Chapel GV II Bible Christian chapel, disused. 1843, restored 1889 (datestone). Local stone rubble with slate roof, gabled at ends ; left end stack with brick shaft appears to belong to the building but may serve the cottage adjoining at the west end. Plan: Small Gothick chapel, rectangular on plan with a porch at the right (ritual west) end. The porch is almost certainly an addition of 1889 but the rest of the building appears to be 1843 externally. 2-bay chapel with windows on the south side only ; the windows 3-light with 2-centred arches and intersecting glazing bars. The right end has a gabled brick porch with bargeboards, a panelled door and stone lintel inscribed "Enter into his courts with joy". Plaque in porch gable inscribed "Bible Christian Chapel built 1843 restored 1889". Small 3-light 2-centred arched window above porch with intersecting glazing bars. Interior not inspected. The chapel stands in its own graveyard in the picturesque valley of Little Silver. Adjoining cottage not included in listing. One of 2 non-conformist chapels in the small hamlet of Little Silver.
