House, now shop. Dated 1709, but incorporating an earlier
structure. Brick front to timber-frame with plain tiled roof.
3 storeys with 2 pedimented gabled dormers in the roof.
3-window range. Inserted late C20 shopfront continues across
adjacent buildings, Nos 23, 24, 26 & 27 (qv). Upper windows
are 12-pane sashes with flat-arched brick heads, moulded sills
and recessed aprons below second-floor windows. One of these
is occupied by a stone panel inscribed with the date. Stone
quoins and string course. Overhanging moulded wood modillion
eaves cornice.
INTERIOR: timber-framed structure extensively exposed, where
it is incorporated into the larger premises of the department
store, of which this building has formed a part since at least
the early C20.
