GV II
Pair of cottages at corporation depot. 1876. Red brick, with ashlar dressings and slate roofs with coped gables. 4 large ridge stacks with swept ashlar copings. Gothic Revival style. Plinth, moulded brick eaves. 2 storeys; 4 window range. Symmetrical front, with 2 gables flanked by square bays with pyramidal roofs. In the centre, 2 canted bay windows, brick with hipped roofs. Above, two Venetian windows in pointed arched recesses with rubbed brick surrounds. On each side, a boarded door with fanlight and hood mould, and above, a round-arched window with trefoil head. This building is an early example of housing provided on site by the corporation for its employees. Victoria Flats, Bath Street, 1876 (qv) provided further accommodation for workers at Eastcroft Depot.
