Cinema, now concert hall. c.1930. Red brick in Flemish bond, with facade of white glazed terracotta (roof concealed). Large rectangular plan with rounded front corners, wing attached to rear left corner. Modernist style. Two unequal storeys plus attic. The wide slightly-raised rectangular centre has large rectangular tripartite openings on both floors (that at ground floor containing ranges of doors, and that above containing large recessed rectangular windows with small-pane glazing), flanked by vertical panels with Art Deco ornament. The wide convex corners have small oblong windows on 2 levels and above these 3 tiers of oblong slit windows between raised bands (all paired in the left corner and single in the right-hand corner). The slightly set back attic storey has a set-back centre (corresponding to the tripartite openings at ground and 1st floors) with banded pilasters, 1:3:1 little oblong windows and raised parapet, and banded wings with plain cornices and parapets interrupted by broad stepped and moulded pilasters (corresponding to the ornamented panels below), and slit windows at the corners. Return sides plainer. Interior: substantially unaltered auditorium with Art Deco decoration including horsehoe gallery with sweeping lines terminating in 4 overlapping tiers of "boxes", and between these and the proscenium a plunging V-shaped band.
