Commemorative statue. Dated 1859. By JB Robinson of Derby. Marble standing figure, life size, in mid C19 clothing. Square sandstone inscribed pedestal with plinth and cornice, on a rock-faced stone base. Feargus O'Connor (1794-1855), led the Chartist movement, and was MP for Nottingham 1847-1852. This is the only statue of O'Connor in Britain. (Palmer AW: Dictionary of Modern History: London: 1962-: 241; Nottingham Topic: April 1982: Nottingham: 1982-).
