GV II
Woollen warehouses, now offices. 1870, converted C20. By George Corson. Ashlar, red brick with stone details, slate roof. Gothic Revival style. 4-storey, 3-window outer bays, 3-storey, 5-bay inner block. Outer bays have central panelled doors under a cusped stone hood surmounted by a carved lion left and a griffin right, and entries to rear yard with bracketed flat arches; ground-floor windows: paired cusped lights and wooden frames in square moulded stone recesses, a band of polychrome tiles below, continuous beaded cornice above. Upper-floor windows are paired flat-headed lights to outer bays, pointed arches centre. The centre block has full-height arched recesses with attached columns and pierced parapet with gargoyles; the outer bays have high bracketed eaves cornice and parapet with flanking stone-capped chimneys. INTERIOR: not inspected. The building links through to Nos 42-46 Park Place (qv) and has a very similar facade.
