SE2236 CANAL ROAD, Rodley 714-1/16/1041 (North East side) 05/08/76 Nos.182 AND 184 Rodley Barge Public House (Formerly Listed as: CANAL ROAD, Rodley Rodley Barge Public House)

House and cottage, now public house. Late C18 with extensive alterations mid C19 and C20. Coursed gritstone, stone slate roofs. 2 storeys, 2-bay main range left, projecting bay right. Left range: central entrance, now window, with plain lintel and upper jambs, tall 2-light flat-faced mullion windows with C20 casements. The upper windows are taller than those to ground floor and a change in the stonework on the front suggests that the eaves were originally much lower. Gable copings, end stacks. Right bay: C20 openings to ground floor, 2-light mullioned window to 1st; gable copings, rebuilt stack left. INTERIOR: 2 parallel bars open off corridor, left. Refitted late C20. Cellar below bar on road frontage.
