Henry Oxley was living at Weetwood Villa, also called 'The Elms' by 1864; his son, James, lived at Spenfield (qv) and by 1897 Arthur J Tannett Walker lived here. c1920 JW Oxley gave the house and grounds
to the University and it was adapted as a Hall for women students, opened October 1921; the extension to house 70 students was opened c1930. (Kelly et al., Directories of Leeds: 1863-1910; Douglas J, Victorian Society (pers.comm.): 1992-).
