GV II

Cottage with workshop. Late C18, restored C20. Coursed squared gritstone, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 2 bays to street, 3 storeys to rear. Central entrance with tie-stone jambs, to left a wide flat arch with single-stone lintel set low down, now part blocked; to right a C20 2-light window. 1st floor: two 2-light flat-faced mullion windows, modern casements. Rear: the wide arch, right, has modern stone walling; single- and 2-light mullioned windows, modern plate-glass frames. INTERIOR: not inspected. The rise in the street level obscures the arched access to the rear of the premises and thus to the canal wharf behind. Recent restoration work included the removal of a mid C19 shop front and pilastered doorway.
