Public house and accommodation over. c1875, altered C20. Red brick with ashlar sandstone ground floor and dressings, Welsh slate roof. 3 storeys with cellars. 3-bay symmetrical facade. Plinth; shaped raised quoins to ground floor; plain sashes throughout. Quoined entrance aedicule has cross-panelled double door in recess flanked by granite corner pilasters having composite capitals linked by transom with grapes carved in relief; overlight under segmental arch with rosettes, hoodmould and carved head keystone; foliated spandrels under frieze marked : 'HOTEL' in bold raised letters; dentilled segmental pediment with figurine of horse and trumpet. Outer bays have shaped sills to paired round-headed windows in pilastered surrounds with linked hoodmoulds and keystones carved with flagons, bugle and horns. Dentilled cornice breaks forward over quoins. 1st floor: paired outer windows with panelled aprons, rosettes, faceted dies and moulded sills to shaped architraves, carved lintels. Single central window. 2nd floor: moulded sill band breaks forward on blocks beneath pilastered, round-headed 2:1:2-light windows linked by flush band with rosettes; triangular-headed lintels with sunk carvings. Frieze and string course, ashlar panels and paired brackets under deep cornice; larger end brackets with lions' heads. Blocking course raised as parapet over centre; mid-pitch end stacks. INTERIOR: original front-room layout; otherwise 1980s reproduction incorporating re-sited C19 fireplaces.
