Hall of residence. 1911. By GW Atkinson. Red brick, ashlar details, slate hipped roof. 3 storeys, 5 unequal bays with 3,5,1,5,3 windows. In a 'Wrennaissance' Revival style, one of the 7 halls grouped to the S of the main building, James Graham Hall (qv), this block facing E. Ashlar plinth. The central and outer bays break forward, the centre of the outer bays project again and all have brick rustication and pediments; bays 2 and 4, ground floor, project slightly. Central entrance: 4-panel double doors with carved swags, traceried overlight, deeply recessed in surround of paired pilasters with triglyph frieze, modillion cornice, blocking course. Small-pane sashes throughout, large double keystones, carved plaque and swags on architrave to 1st floor centre. Deep modillion cornice, tall brick ridge stacks with modillion cornice. INTERIOR: not inspected.
