Pair of houses with shops. c1850. Mottled red brick in Flemish bond with boxed guttering, returned at each end, and shopfronts of timber; slate roof with brick stacks. EXTERIOR: 3-storey 4-window front. Carriage arch flanked by shopfronts framed in plain pilasters with moulded imposts beneath dentilled cornice on bulbous carved brackets. Each has glazed door recessed to right of 8-pane shop window over panelled risers. First and second floor windows are 12-pane sashes with painted stone sills and flat arches. INTERIOR: not inspected. (City of York: RCHME: The Central Area: HMSO: 1981-: 237).
