House, now shop. Mid C18, with early C19 alterations; house renovated and wing partly rebuilt in late C20. Orange-brown brick in Flemish bond; rear wing rebuilt in red brick; timber shopfronts; brick eaves parapet with stone capping and brick gable copings to plain tile roof; brick stacks. EXTERIOR: 3-storey 2-bay front. Shopfront framed in pilasters with moulded imposts beneath sunk-panel frieze and dentilled cornice rising to segmental pediment in centre. Moulded stone steps lead to paired 6-panel doors with fanlights flanked by plate glass windows, each of 2 arcaded lights. On first floor, window to left is shallow tripartite bow with three 12-pane sashes and fluted frieze; window to right is 16-pane sash with flat arch of gauged brick. Second floor windows are 12-pane sashes with similar arches. First floor windows have raised sill band, second floor windows painted stone sills. 4-course raised brick eaves band beneath low parapet with pilaster piers at ends and centre. Rear: 3 storeys, 3 bays, with 2-storey 3-bay wing projecting at left. Ground floor opens into glazed extension. First floor window is bow similar to that on main front, with 12-pane centre sash. Second floor has three 12-pane sashes with narrow painted sills and 1-course brick arches. Returns: both have 3-course upper floor raised brick bands, that on left side continued across rear at second floor, that on right side across rear of wing at first floor level. Inverted bell rainwater head on right return at junction of main building and wing. INTERIOR: main house has principal staircase from ground to first floor with open string, alternate turned and twisted balusters on stairs with panelled under sides; handrail is swept and wreathed at foot on turned newel on shaped curtail step: matching moulded dado rail. Round-arched window head and radial glazing survives from staircase window, altered to provide access to rear wing. Secondary staircase rises from ground floor to attic, having close string, turned balusters and newels and flat moulded handrail: bottom flight altered. On first floor, stairwell has modillioned cornice, landing and all rooms moulded cornices. At stair head, segmental arch on plain pilasters with moulded imposts. Larger front room has duck-nest grate in reeded fireplace surround with angle rosettes in roundels and flat shelf: back room has plain fireplace with moulded shelf. Rear wing: ground floor room lined with raised moulded panelling. First floor has two fireplaces with painted stone surrounds, one containing hob grate, the other round-headed grate.
