II
Statue. Unveiled 1885. Sculptor GW Milburn. White marble on pedestal of red granite. Life-size standing figure on pedestal of square plan with moulded cap and base. West side of pedestal inscribed 'GEORGE LEEMAN'. East side records that the statue was erected by public subscription. Alderman George Leeman was Chairman of the North Eastern Railway Company and three times Lord Mayor of York.
